CFL fans have been clamoring for TSN to broadcast more preseason games across their five channels for years. Sure, it’d be nice to have more games available but I don’t know if it’s worthwhile for the network to do so.
Preseason football can be hard to watch with teams just focusing on evaluating talent instead of winning. We should be thankful that TSN broadcasts any of the games as four of the nine preseason games this year will be on TV.
Last season’s preseason ratings were partially aided by Johnny Manziel but it’ll always be a tough sell to improve preseason ratings when these games are generally against championship games in the NHL or NBA.
Teams like the Riders and Ticats have come to the rescue in recent years by live streaming the stadium feed online for the country to see. Eskimo and Bomber fans will be happy to know that the Winnipeg Blue Bombers will be live-streaming Friday’s game on their website.
CJOB’s Bob Irving and Doug Brown will have the call.
I don’t say this often but…thanks Winnipeg!
