Regina’s loss is Winnipeg’s gain. IG Field will play host to the Oakland Raiders and Green Bay Packers on Thursday, August 22nd.
The Bombers just happen to be in Edmonton that week so everything just seemed to fall right into place after Regina passed on the game, allegedly because of the short turnaround between this proposed game and the Roughrider home game on Saturday, August 24th.
I wonder how Mr. Irving is feeling about the Bombers now. I’m sure the club will enjoy the extra cash as will the City of Winnipeg.
The Raiders had been searching for a temporary home to house the team this season before their move to Vegas in 2020 until Mark Davis signed a new lease deal with the Oakland-Alameda Coliseum to host nine more home games back in March.
Why not allow the Raiders to play as many home games in Canada and spread the proceeds to all teams of the CFL?
