Week 6. It seems that
as we inch closer to the 1/3rd mark of the season, each team has a
decent story to follow and in turn, some have some effect on fantasy.
The Toronto Argonauts suck. They have the worst defence in the leage, and
are pretty much the worst offence. 39%
in 2nd down efficiency (9th), 8th in offensive
yds/game, 9th in turnovers, but yet are 5th in PPG
somehow. Either way, I would stay far
away from any of their players as Derel Walker will most likely be shadowed by
Tre Roberson.
Montreal’s front office is in a tailspin with
the firing of Kavis Reed among others after a 2 game winning streak and Stefan
Logan was released. One bright spot has
been William Stanback who is averaging just over 114yds/game on the ground
including a 203yard effort against the Ti-Cats.
They are playing good football right now though but going up against the
league’s best defence, they could be in tough.
Ottawa has named Jon Jennings as their starter
for their game against the Blue Bombers citing that Dom Davis has a little bit
of an injury. Jennings is 1-5 against
Winnipeg and hasn’t seen 1st team reps since last season
Everything seems to keep clicking along for
Hamilton this season. They are on bye
this week so the absence of Simoni Lawrence, who’s suspension was upheld
earlier this week, won’t be known until next week
In Winnipeg, Chris Matthews is set to return to
the lineup, while Lucky Whitehead missed practice, but is expected to play. Darvin Adams, Adam Bighill, and JaMarcus
Hardrick were given off days this week. If
Whitehead is available, he could be a decent fantasy option as we’ve seen
before. That being said, we’ve also seen
him lay an egg fantasy wise.
Saskatchewan may have a new look at receiver as
rumour has it Manny Arceneaux could draw into the line up against his former
team this week. His career average
hovers around 13.3pts/game and his price is about $1000 above average so it is
still a decent value if he ends up being the #1 option for Cody Fajardo
Edmonton travels coast to coast to play the
alouettes. Boasting the leagues best defence they look to stop a hot William Stanback
and force Vernon Adams Jr. to beat them.
DaVaris Daniels had a touchdown last week as he looks to have decent chemistry
with Trevor Harris as evidenced with them staying out after practice so it
seems to have paid off
Calgary wins this week. I don’t think there’s an argument in the
other direction other than the fact they face the only team with a worse rush
defence then them in the Argonauts.
Juwan Brescacin is going to play which adds to the WR Corps of Eric
Rogers, Reggie Begelton, and Markeith Ambles.
Nick Arbuckle has a lot of weapons at this disposal this week and with
the rushing defence in Toronto what it is, it could be a week to get Ka’Deem
Carey and Terry Williams going as well
BC needs to protect Mike Rielly. There’s no two ways about it. He has been sacked 17 times through the first
5 games and with that pressure, the offense doesn’t seem to be adjusting as
most of the time WR are clearing out and there’s not a lot of passing options
under 20yds. Going into Saskatchewan
against a defense that has Leonard, Evans, Micah Johnson, Hughes, Judge,
Elimimian, and Moncrief in their front 7, the O-Line is set up for quite the
work out as I’m sure they will take some ideas from the Eskimos on how to get
to Reilly. Might not be too much time and
space for Mike, which could result in a lackluster fantasy performance
